Writing T3 W2

Hi! This week on writing we are focusing on narratives. Just so you know, narratives are powerful because Telling stories is one of the most powerful means that leaders have to influence, teach, and inspire. What makes storytelling so effective for learning? For starters, storytelling forges connections among people, and between people and ideas. Stories convey the culture, history, and values that unite people. Narratives are important because Narratives are used to educate and entertain young children as well as adults. Children at a young age experience many narratives and stories during their early years of pre-school and primary school. Narratives are used as a form of important lessons. Reading narratives can be a past time used to help relax the mind. It also helps your thinking! I love writing like authors do. I hope that everyone who reads this blog might like reading mostly like me (who loves writing). I highly recommend better writers do harder writing. Narration means the art of storytelling, and the purpose of narrative writing is to tell stories. Any time you tell a story to a friend or family member about an event or incident in your day, you engage in a form of narrationNarrative structure is a literary element generally described as the structural framework that underlies the order and manner in which a narrative is presented to a reader, listener, or viewer. The narrative text structures are the plot and the setting. A good personal narrative uses narrative techniques such as dialogue, description, and pacing to tell the events and show the character's responses to the things that happened. Dialogue is the actual words someone spoke. Dialogue shows thoughts and feelings.

Reading T2 W4

Hello everyone! I'm going to tell you what I did for reading this week. We had to read a book online that the teachers gave us and then we have to writing a plan then we will do a slide of what happened in the book which is called: Creatures From The Deep. It had really fun texts and paragraphs. The volume of it was really high as it's a read to me book but it's a long one. I like maths, writing and reading at the same time! Here is the link to my best work from my reading this week!! Reading is interesting sometimes and other times it's just dull and boring. Hope you like it! This is reading facts: Reading exposes people to new words. By learning new words, people develop deeper understanding of their language and how to use it. For people learning English (including children and adults), books will help them to not only learn new words but understand how to use them. The first I was reading a book, I thought it was boring but when I read more, I just kind of get use to it. Reading helps your brain grow. Why is reading important? Reading is important because it develops the mind. Understanding the written word is one way the mind grows in its ability. Teaching young children to read helps them develop their language skills. It also helps them learn to listen. Audio books also helps you imagine stuff. Thanks! See you in my next blog!!!

Narrative Writing Rubric

Hi! I will show you today of what Kaupeka (year 7/8) have to do. It's a writing rubric that you have to fill out. We have to do everything the rubric tells us to do and we have to make a plan that goes with the story. I kind of like doing rubrics because I like stuff with lots of questions and rules so you don't mess up. I will give you the link to my narrative writing rubric. In a narrative, you have to concentrate more on more stuff. I'll tell you a fact about a narrative that will help you when you are writing one, here it is: Narrative writing must tell a story. Fiction is writing that is imagined and not based on real events. Nonfiction is based on real events and could be narrative writing. Characteristics of narrative writing include characters, plot, conflict, setting, and point of view. I really like writing stories, poems, S.S.W (Sustained Silent Writing or Super Silent Writing), war stories, comics and writing about a movie.

Do you like writing as much as I do?
Tell me in the comments below and tell me! Bye, see you in my next blog!

Plurals & Suffixes

Hi everybody! Today, I'll be showing you how plurals and suffixes work on a slide which is just 4 slides but don't worry, it has a lot of details in it and I gave you some examples. So, first, plurals and suffixes is just to form in English, just add the suffix "s" to the noun. For example, oranges, pens, boards, etc. The correct plurals usually depends on what letter the singular noun ends in. To make regular nouns plural, add "s", "ss", "sh", "ch", "x" or "z", add "es" to the end to make it a plural. I hope that explains it all, but look in my slide for deeper information about it. Here is the link to my slide to all the info you need.

Hope you like it!

Writing T2 W9 - Lost & Found

Hi everyone! Our group needed to watch a video to go with the story we're writing about. The video was pretty sad and doesn't have a happy ending. Here's the link to the video we are writing about. After the video, we needed to choose two chunks, there were nine chunks to choose from. Each chunk has to be nine sentences with action words, alliteration and inner thought. I did two chunks, with those challenges (action words, alliteration and inner thought) and I wrote nine sentences, but my first chunk was a bit long. My second chunk was shorter than he first one.

Here is the screenshot of my work, hope you enjoy it!
Have you seen or heard of Lost & Found before?
